Gregor Gysi: One Life is not enough.

Dr. Gregor Gysi, born in Berlin on January 16, 1948, is a skilled worker for cattle breeding by profession and, after successfully completing his law studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin, a lawyer. He has been practicing his profession since 1971.

At the end of 1989 until January 1992, he was chairman of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS). He was a member of the East German People's Chamber from March to October 1990 and was chairman of the PDS parliamentary group.

From the end of 1990 until the fall of 2002, he was a directly elected member of the German Bundestag and chairman of the PDS group. From January to July 2002, he held the office of Mayor and Senator for Economics, Labor and Women's Issues, after which he worked as a lawyer and publicist.

Since October 2005, Dr. Gysi has been a directly elected member of the German Bundestag in his Berlin constituency of Treptow-Köpenick. He is divorced and has two sons and a daughter.
